Measuring progress towards 2030 In Sight
To track progress on 2030 In Sight, a monitoring framework has been developed as an important tool for assessing the implementation and impact of public health strategies.
The 2030 In Sight Srategy Monitoring Framework is developed and designed as a tool for countries and organisations to evaluate progress, identify gaps, and make data-driven decisions about resource allocation.
A Dynamic Framework for Eye Health Progress
The 2030 In Sight Strategy Monitoring Framework is more than a static set of indicators; it is a dynamic tool tailored to capture the complex journey toward eliminating avoidable sight loss. The framework aligns with the strategy’s three pillars:
ELEVATE: Number of Commitments that contribute towards achieving the 2030 IN SIGHT strategy.
- Commitments are collected via the IAPB Commitment Tracker, a purpose-built tool for entering the details of commitments.
- IAPB members and the eye care network can enter commitments at any time.
- All commitments are verified by the IAPB Secretariat.
- Data will be included on the Vision Atlas in mid 2025 workforce (63%), while Sub-Saharan Africa is predominantly male (62%).
INTEGRATE: Progress in integrating eye health within wider systems.
- A composite progress score is allocated for systems integration based on six questions from WHO instruments.
- Data is collected via key informant interviews at a national level, conducted in conjunction with the IAPB Secretariat.
- Efforts will be made to update the data every 2-3 years.
ACTIVATE: Number of activations increasing demand for eye health.
- Analytics from Love Your Eyes campaigns and case studies are used to monitor progress on activate.
- Data are collected by IAPB and reported annually.
This framework enriches quantitative data with qualitative insights, including implementation mapping, case studies, and data stories from IAPB members. Those data are now featured on the IAPB Vision Atlas, with the Global Page offering a high-level overview and Country Pages providing detailed, localized data to visualize progress, as well as allowing comparisons among countries.
A Call to Action
The 2030 In Sight Strategy Monitoring Framework is a vital tool for tracking progress and galvanizing action. By leveraging ECSAT, WHO indicators, and the collective expertise of IAPB’s working groups and members, the framework provides a roadmap to end avoidable sight loss. Stakeholders are encouraged to contribute to the IAPB Commitment Tracker, participate in data collection, and join global campaigns like Love Your Eyes to drive demand for eye health services. Together, these efforts will ensure that by 2030, everyone, everywhere has access to quality eye care.
