Vision Atlas contributors
The Vision Atlas is powered by the vital work of our key data contributors. Their efforts in collecting, analysing, and sharing high-quality eye health data are fundamental to the goals of the Vision Atlas.
We acknowledge their contributions and proudly showcase their work to support evidence-based action in eye care.
Contribute data to the Vision Atlas
The Vision Loss Expert Group (VLEG)
The Vision Loss Expert Group (VLEG) is a global network of researchers—mainly ophthalmologists and optometrists with expertise in ophthalmic epidemiology. VLEG plays a leading role in generating robust estimates of vision impairment and blindness worldwide.
Working closely with the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) Study and other key partners, VLEG compiles and analyses data from around the world, ensuring that global and regional estimates reflect the best available evidence. Its work underpins much of the data presented in the Vision Atlas and remains critical to driving informed policy and planning in eye health.
Rapid Assessment of Avoidable Blindness (RAAB)
RAAB is a population-based eye health survey that provides data for government and NGOs to inform eye care planning, service monitoring, and evaluation. RAAB is the primary data source for estimating global and regional vision impairment prevalence and tracking progress toward universal health coverage.
International Vision Health Scorecard
The Global Coalition on Aging developed the International Vision Health Scorecard to drive progress on key policy goals to improve vision health for everyone, especially older adults, to support activity and productivity throughout longer lives.
2030 In Sight Progress Survey
The 2030 In Sight Progress Survey monitors progress towards embedding vision as a fundamental economic, social, and development issue, integrating eye health into broader health systems, and driving consumer market changed. Developed by the IAPB Knowledge Team, this survey aligns with WHO tools to provide insights on collective impact.
