Impact of Near Vision Correction on Income in Bangladash: The THRIVE Trial
This trial evaluated the impact of providing reading glasses to workers engaged in near-vision-intensive occupations. Key Findings:
- 88.3% of participants wore the glasses at follow-up.
- Providing reading glasses led to a 33.4% increase in median monthly income.
- Income increases were higher for males and those not engaging in income-producing work at baseline.
The study concluded that provision of reading glasses increases income in near vision-intensive occupations and may facilitate return to work for those currently unemployed.
