Glaucoma Awareness in New Tertiary Eye Care Patients
This study assesses the level of glaucoma awareness among patients at a tertiary eye care center, revealing a significant lack of knowledge despite prior interactions with eye care providers. Key Findings:
- Most new patients had limited knowledge of glaucoma
- Higher education, income, and risk factors improved awareness; older age reduced it.
- Interestingly, the high-risk group possessed the highest level of knowledge, whereas the glaucoma group had the lowest.
This study concluded that implementing health education at all levels is crucial in preventing glaucoma-related visual impairment.
