First Pakistan national eye cancer survey
This report presents findings from Pakistan’s inaugural national eye cancer survey, providing valuable data for cancer control and prevention strategies. Key Findings:
- Around 1,705 eye tumors occur annually in Pakistan; 51% malignant, 49% benign.
- Of the 877 eye cancer cases: 38% are eyelid, 31% intraocular, 16% ocular surface, and 15% orbital.
- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa showed the highest percentage of eyelid cancers (72%), while Sindh had the highest percentage of intraocular cancers (40%).
This study found an estimated 8 cases of eye tumors per million population are examined annually.
