‘Double Reduction’ Policy and Myopia Trends in Chinese Students
This study evaluated the effects of China’s ‘Double Reduction’ policy, introduced in July 2021, on myopia progression among school-aged children. Key Findings:
- The ‘Double Reduction’ policy slowed myopia progression in schoolchildren.
- The policy had a stronger effect on mild to moderate myopia.
- The policy showed similar positive results across age groups and genders.
This study concluded that a public policy on education reduction might play a role in controlling myopia among schoolchildren, particularly in countries with high myopia prevalence.
