Assessing eye health program reach in Talagang, Pakistan
This study evaluates the effectiveness of eye health programs in Talagang by comparing them with Rapid Assessment of Avoidable Blindness survey data, aiming to identify gaps and improve service delivery. Key Findings:
- 51% of people aged 50+ have visual impairment, mainly from cataract (46.2%) and uncorrected refractive error (25%)
- The eye health programme screened 30,383 individuals, addressing 18.3% of cataract and 21.1% of refractive error needs
- Combining survey and programme data improved eye health planning and addressed service delivery inequities.
The study highlights that collected survey and programme data can improve eye health planning, monitoring and evaluation, address inequities, and quantify the resources required for improving eye health.
